Royal Princess – Interior Room – L112

It’s Cabin Talk Time!!

This review is all about our interior stateroom on Princess Cruises Royal Princess. Our cabin was #L112 and it was definitely the best laid out interior cabin we have ever stayed in. Keep reading to see all the things I loved & hated about this cabin…

WHAT I LOVED:

*Not to scale* – I loved this layout. The separation between the bed & bath rocked!

• Room Layout – We have stayed in many, many interior staterooms. They are typically very small and on the cramped side. Our Royal Princess interior cabin was neither of these two things and I think the room layout was the main difference between other lines. I don’t believe the room was much bigger than other interior rooms, the layout just made it feel bigger. I loved how Princess placed a wall between the bed and the bathroom. It created this hallway feeling when going to the bathroom and made the bedroom area feel separate. Typically the desk area is flush against the wall and the space in the middle is open (usually with a coffee table occupying the space). I liked this layout better. Besides missing a window, I never even felt like we were in an inside cabin. It felt more like a hotel room in NYC.

So much storage!

• Closet Space – The closet was huge! Plenty of hangers and space for all of our clothes (and space for 3 more adults). Seriously, this was the biggest cruise ship closet we have ever seen. I liked all the space and I liked that you could see everything as well. I didn’t have clothes hidden behind doors or in spaces that were blocked by something else. I also liked the shelves beside the closet. We were able to store all of clothes and belongings in the closet that we never needed to use the drawer spaces in the bedroom area (that’s right I said bedroom area because it actually felt separate, lol).

Plenty of room for large laptop & all of our charging gear

• Desk Size – This was my second favorite feature of the room. The desk was HUGE! We travel with a very large laptop and it never fits on a standard cruise desk space. We not only had room for the laptop but we had room for all of our charging gear (batteries, etc) and all of our paperwork that comes from the ship. I never felt like the desk was crowded and we could keep all of our stuff out and it still looked neat and tidy. The desk is usually a point of contention when it comes to me getting ready vs all of the camera gear. It was so nice that everything had a place.

It’s the little things…I absolutely LOVED these lamps

• Lamps – This is definitely a personal preference but I really liked the bedside lamps. It made the cabin feel warm and inviting. This little detail (for me) made the whole room feel different. It felt more like a hotel room over an inside cabin on a cruise ship. Loved this feature!

Loved being on the Lido Deck!

• Location – Our cabin was L112 and we were on the Lido Deck. At first I was nervous about this placement but it ended up being really nice. It was so awesome to walk down the hallway and right outside. I loved that we could run out on deck so quickly (it was almost like we had a balcony room). It was also nice that the buffet was on the same floor. LOVED THAT! It was so easy to get dressed and then meander ourselves to some food. Great location!!! (although it was a bit of hike from deck 2 if you wanted to climb the stairs. Shoo, what a hike!)

• TV Placement – This may seem strange but I really liked where the TV was placed. Again, this goes back to the layout. Because there is a wall across the room, the TV was able to live on that wall. This allowed the TV to be viewed straight down the bed. Sean and I were able to easily view the TV without any crazy maneuvering. Typically the TV is placed on an angle and I have to prop myself up sideways to see the TV from the far side of the bed.

WHAT I HATED:

Wish there was a little drawer here or shelving

• Makeup Storage – I didn’t have a lot of negatives for this cabin. I would have to say that this has been my favorite inside cabin. One thing I missed was some shelving by the mirror. I like to do my makeup at the desk (it’s way to warm for me in the bathroom), and I didn’t really have any place to put my makeup. There was a small decorative ledge that ended up working for all my makeup but all of that would have come crashing down had we hit any major wave action. I think a little shelf or maybe even a drawer at the desk would be nice for things like that. Again, this was a very small inconvenience.

Weird placement of the shower head

• Shower Placement – One other thing that I didn’t care for was the shower head. The shower head was placed in the corner of the shower instead of in the middle of the shower. With this placement, if you turned the shower head so that it sprayed into the shower (and not out the shower curtain), you were literally showering on the side of the wall. If you turned the shower head so it was spraying toward the center of the shower, the water would be spraying out the curtain and into the bathroom. We got use to the placement but it was weird.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I loved the Royal Princess L112 cabin. The layout was amazing and I loved the closet size. We also truly enjoyed the location and felt like we had a balcony room because it was only a few steps away to the outside decks.
